College and uni site audits to improve lead generation
Background
Throughout 2025, a company specializing in helping universities with their websites, CRO, and lead generation brought Debbie in for UX audits of multiple pages for multiple institutions.
What they had
- CrazyEgg heatmaps, scrollmaps, and other recent quantitative data.
- Web pages, typically about university degrees and programs.
What they wanted
- Audits and suggested improvements based on UX best practices, likely target audience tasks, and CrazyEgg data.
- Mockups of improved versions of pages, utilizing our own suggestions and UX best practices.
- Turnaround times were often rather short, like one calendar week.
What we did
UX Audits
Reviewing each page for content, accessibility, brand consistency, Calls to Action, and more. Screenshots of desktop and mobile pages to reference in the slide deck.
Style Guide Reviews
Some universities had style guides, allowing us to suggest proper layouts, colors, typography, modules, etc. for improved pages.
CrazyEgg
CrazyEgg supplied quantitative data and visualizations, such as heatmaps, scrollmaps, what was clicked most often, rage clicks, etc.
Synthesizing Data and Best Practices
Working from the quant data as well as UX best practices, we created a slide deck indicating wins as well as small and large concerns around usability, accessibility, clarity, layout, and the likelihood of conversion/lead generation. Decks included mockups of improvements as well as bulleted lists of exact recommendations.
As Debbie was freelancing for another company, their slide deck template was used, without any Delta CX branding.
